The boat hire company that has been operating longer than any other on the canals. In fact, well over 69 years.
Now the oldest hire company on the canals, the company is still operated by the Wyatt family and our staff. We offer a wealth of experience and give a warm and friendly service. With special attention for our overseas visitors and novices. We are a pet friendly company. ideal for walking holidays and visiting Staffordshires Heritage and the surrounding areas.
Our picturesque boatyard is in Stone. A small and compact market town that is easily accessible by road and rail. It’s at the centre of the canal network, offering a wide choice of routes.
We have ample open air parking and we take every precaution to ensure the security and safety of your vehicle. All vehicles are left at the owners’ risk.
You will find an extensive amount of information here. Most of your route planning can be done right from the comfort of your own home. Of course, if you would like to visit our boatyard to take a closer look at the boats. Or to discuss canal holiday routes and cruising holiday prices. Please feel free to visit us on Monday to Friday between the 8.30 and 5pm Saturday between the hours of 10am and 2pm.
If a visit is less than convenient, you can always contact us using the online form for further information.
Everything is provided on the boats (see our inventory list). We have fitted out and equipped our boats to the highest standard. We provide duvets, blankets, sheets, pillows and pillow cases. We also provide an initial supply of tea towels, brillo pad, washing up liquid, dish cloth, kitchen roll and toilet paper.
Instruction is given on handling the boats on your arrival. It usually takes about an hour depending on the locks. All boats have forward gear, a reverse gear and tiller steering. You push the lever forward and your off, it’s as simple as that! Tiller steering is precise and you have all the boat in front of you. With most people, ten minutes’ instruction gives them all the confidence they need. We also demonstrate the locks and give advice on mooring, navigation and safety.
